Special Interests
Gastrointestinal, liver, pancreas and bile duct cancers.
My position was created through collaboration with Abbott Northwestern & Minnesota Oncology. My role is unique as I work 80% in Abbott Northwestern hospital, and 20% in the Minnesota Oncology Clinic. This arrangement was created to provide better continuity of care by bridging the gap between hospitalizations and hospital follow-up clinic visits. This helps eliminate confusion for the patient while providing seamless care.
Research/Publications
Allie has written an evidenced-based paper proposing a position working both in the hospital and in the clinical setting to help decrease the disconnect in care and communication between a patient’s hospitalization and clinic follow up. She is currently living/working the position she proposed.
Scholarly project in the Master’s program: Bariatric Surgery in the Primary Care Setting; accepted for publication.
Philosophy
To always remember that patients are our focus and the reason why we are here
I strive to keep an open line of communication and to work as a team in collaboration with physicians, nursing, ancillary staff and the patient.
I believe in treating all patients as if they were my family member. In doing so, I believe you must listen both to verbal as well as non-verbal communication.
I strive to care for patients each day to the best of my ability while respecting everyone’s individuality and respecting their choices/wishes in regards to their care
Personal
My family here in Minnesota consists of one adult daughter (recently married) and two special needs Great Danes. Other interests include home improvement projects, sports, gardening, and animal rescue
